Karen Briggs' Contempo Orchestra & "Sonic Woodwork" Is Making It's Debut

Atlanta's radio station WCLK is celebrating it's 50th Anniversary by featuring "Lady in Red" violinist, Karen Briggs also with the debut of  her Contempo Orchestra ON JULY 6, 2024. 

 

"This is  a very special time in my career as a musician and I am so excited about this show!" states Karen, as she prepares for the live event featuring an assembly of A-list musicians from various parts of the U.S. including Atlanta. The diverse ensemble is comprised of two keyboardists, two percussionists, bass, guitar and features a string quartet of what Karen refers to as, "modern string players" who, like herself, are best known for thinking outside of the traditional boundaries relagated to stringed instruments. "We have U.S. based players from different countries, like Japan, Senegal, Canada and Cuba as well as the US."

 

The instrumentation was assembled primarily to perform the music of her new project release due out in July entitled,  "Sonic Woodwork for Contempo Orchestra", to accompany all of her super-star featured guests and as a platform to feature many of the all-star musicians from within the orchestra.

 

The super-star features are impressive with brilliant comedian/vocalist, Tommy Davidson; soul-stirring vocalist, Oleta Adams,; bass extraordinaire, Brian Bromberg; guitarist and leader of the group, Special EFX, Chieli Minucci; vocal songstress, Regina Belle;  incredible tenor, Phil Perry, saxtress, Jazmin Ghent and violin sensation, Jerald Daemyon.  

 

The concert will be hosted Motown royalty, Kerry Gordy. (son of Motown founder, Berry Gordy)

The Stockbridge Amphitheater is a newer venue located about 25 minutes drive outside of the greater Atlanta, GA area.  With a capacity of up to 4000 guests, this will be an incredible gathering for the upcomping 4th of July holiday weekend.
