October 2022 - "Not a day would go by that I didn't think about a possible trip to Cuba to experience the culture and amazing musical talents of the people there." Her dreams finally came true after an invite from pianist/composer Nachito Herrera to perform wth the National Orquesta in Havana. The concert took place at the "National Auditorio" with an amazing extra large orchestra that included Afro-Cuban percussion along with the more traditional accoutrements that one would expect to see in a symphonic orchestra, but this was an extravaganza of music that featured Karen's music as well. Karen's "A Theme of Gratitude" was performed, as well as a trio performance of charanga music with Cuban violinist's Dagaberto & Christopher. Karen says, "I will never forget this experience." ~ JB
